What is the ASD Essential 8?

The Australian Signals Directorate have developed a cyber security baseline for small and medium businesses. This baseline, known as the Essential Eight, makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems.

The Essential 8 is not an all-encompassing shield against malicious elements, rather it is the baseline for your cyber security strategy. This is the foundation for mitigating cyber security breaches and protecting your business.

There are multiple levels of protection amongst the Essential 8. Where you fit within these levels is referred to as your Maturity Model.
